Boucany progress Saturday April 11, 2009

This is now the "new" entrance for the renovations. Note the missing railing: All of the vanities, carpet and tile will come through here at the back of the house.

The decking used is a plastic composite. The railings are alluminum, and the post are extruded composite covers over the 4X4 pressure treated posts.

The vertical post will be removed, and the main supports will be the angled 2X6s. We wanted to cantilever it but we were already cantilevering the second floor out two feet. The boucany is about 4 ft and this would have been beyond an acceptable distance.

Siding Friday April 10th

The paint is going on as fast as the siding is going up.

Insulation details Thursday April 9th

You can see where the door was in the laundry room. The area below the framed out window was originally a separate piece that was used to pass the insulation inspection. It was sprayed with the urethane foam, then removed for the door. When they framed for the window and eliminated the contractor entrance, this piece was cut and refitted for the new window.

This is the portion that was cut. You can see that the typical wall thickness of the foam is over an inch. This method offers great insulation form both an R value as well as a infiltration value. Air cannot get into the house this way.

Insulation, insulation, insulation Wednesday April 8th

This is the third bay of the garage, looking out. The walls are being insulated, then will be dry walled per Perinton Town code.

This is the back of the third bay. You can see the side garage door. Also, the door that Jim and his crew used to go in and out of the house will now be used as the rear door of the garage.

Here you can see how they boxed in and insulated the sewage pipe from the upstairs bathrooms.

The door going in and out is now gone. This has been insulated and framed for the new window what will go here.

This is the rear and side quarter of the garage. You can see the progress of the siding compared to the previous shot of this area.

The big plate window is in the bath tub room. Lots of light! This window faces west.

The weather has chaged for the worst this week. While the drywaller is inside, the framers are freezing their butts off insulating the garage, triming the outside and installing siding.

Drywall progress

The drywall work has hit the end of the house. In this view, I am standing at the entrance of the master bedroom. The childrens bedrooms are on the right and the master bathroom is on the left. Looking straight ahead is the back yard and the sliding glass door.

This is the view looking into the master bath. The vanitiy cabinets will sit in this space

Wednsday April 1st Slider installation into the master bedroom

It was pouring rain today, but the framers managed to get the slider into the master bedroom. They were cold and wet so they left early. Rest of the work done today was the drywall, the plumbing and the electrical.
